The Anfield Cat aka Shankly
The now famous "Anfield Cat" who gained his glory from running on the Anfield pitch during Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur is looking for a new home.

Walking on the Liverpool Home ground at 11 minutes into the Hotspur v Liverpool game on 6th February before being swiftly picked up by a steward.

The cat gained its fame after the name caught on after the match interruption and flurry of spoof Twitter and Facebook accounts.

The grey and white tabby renamed Shankly is now under the care of an animal centre; Freshfields Animal Rescue Centre in Formby, Merseyside. A centre spokesperson commented:

"Shankly will remain in our care for a number of weeks as he recuperates after his life on the streets."

"He will be vaccinated and neutered as this is something any responsible pet owner should do and he will be micro chipped to Freshfields."

"Shankly will be up for rehoming and any potential adoptee will be asked to go through the same adoption process as with any of our other cats."

Anybody interested in adopting Shankly should contact Freshfields in three weeks time, (6th March) if you wish to enquiry about adopting Shankly. The spokesperson also stated that the centre is unable to take any reservations for Shankly but donations towards his care and that of other animals at the centre are welcomed.
